Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean went viral this week for her response to a keyboard bully who body-shamed her on Facebook.
It all started when a woman named Joann wrote a mean comment toward Dean about her legs:
“Dear Janice please stop allowing fox to dress you in those short skirts. They are not flattering on you. Your an attractive lady, love the 80’s hair, but your legs are distracting every time you walk on screen.”
Dean decided to respond and later wrote on FoxNews.com that the subsequent outpouring of support from her friends and fans left her in tears.
Fox doesn’t dress me. I dress myself. I’m sorry if you don’t like my legs. I’m grateful I have them to walk with. You’re right. I don’t look like the typical person on TV, and I’m proud to be a size 10. Imagine that! You can always turn the channel if you’re offended by my huge legs. Hope you don’t mind. I may share your post with everyone on my FB page. All the best, Janice”
Dean, who has written in the past about living with MS, joined “Fox & Friends” on Thursday to reiterate her message toward internet trolls.
“This [comment] got to me. … We all struggle with things. I’ve always been cognizant of the fact that I’m a curvy person,” she said, thanking viewers and her colleagues for the outpouring of support.
Dean said anyone who suffers from MS faces the difficult reality that they could lose the use of their legs at any time.
“We have to be nice to each other. … Don’t judge a person until you walk in their shoes,” she said.
