Liberals’ Misguided Love Affair With Islam
May 17, 2017 by Michael Brown
Why do so many liberals praise a religion that, at its root, is quite conservative, if not fundamentalist? Why do they defend a faith that would not defend them? Worse still, why do they defend a faith that, in some cases, would do violence to them?
Last week, Robert Spencer, Director of Jihad Watch and a New York Times bestselling author on radical Islam, was invited to speak at the University of Buffalo. But he was unable to say much because of the vocal opposition. He was shouted down and reviled, especially when attempting to read Islamic texts describing Islamic beliefs.
To paraphrase, “Not on our campus! We are progressive. We are liberal. We are enlightened. You will not bring your hate-filled bigotry here!”
In Spencer’s own words, “I spoke a few sentences and made a couple of points in between being screamed at by Leftist and Islamic supremacist fascists who think they’re opposing fascism.”
Did you catch that? Spencer was opposed by staunch liberals and staunch Muslims. What an odd couple they make, yet this has happened time and again in the recent past. Why?
A few years ago, I read about a pro-Hamas, anti-Israel rally led by feminists and LGBT activists, among others on the left. Why in the world would groups like this support Hamas, which would kill or imprison them for their beliefs (and their sexual or romantic proclivities)? And why would they oppose Israel, which would welcome them with open arms? (I’m not talking about religious Jews, who would certainly not welcome them. I’m talking about the population as a whole, which is quite “progressive.” Note also that it wasn’t the ultra-Orthodox Jews who were fighting Hamas, so the rally was not targeting them.)
This makes no sense, unless there is something deeper that unites these groups (such as anti-Israel animus) or a serious deception they are buying into (such as the idea that true Islam is always a religion of peace and tolerance; in John Zmirak’s words, they are Islam’s “useful idiots”).
And why is it that the most liberal political leaders in the West are often the strongest defenders of Islam? Why are they constantly telling us that real Islam is neither radical nor violent?
Getting back to Robert Spencer (not to be confused with the alt-right leader Richard Spencer), he has “led seminars on Islam and jihad for the FBI, the United States Central Command, United States Army Command and General Staff College, the U.S. Army’s Asymmetric Warfare Group, the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), the Justice Department’s Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council and the U.S. intelligence community. He has discussed jihad, Islam, and terrorism at a workshop sponsored by the U.S. State Department and the German Foreign Ministry. He is a consultant with the Center for Security Policy and vice president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative.
“Spencer has appeared on the BBC, ABC News, CNN, FoxNews’s O’Reilly Factor, Megyn Kelly’s The Kelly File, the Sean Hannity Show,” among many, many others, which would lead one to believe that he was highly qualified to give an address on campus.
Not today. His allegedly bigoted views about a beautiful religion were not welcome. He is in violation of the progressive PC code, which includes, “Thou shalt not insult Islam.”
The University of Buffalo’s student newspaper reported, “Spencer planned to speak to students about ‘the dangers of jihad in today’s world’ but constant heckling from the crowd made it near impossible for him to complete a full sentence.”
Ah, the blissful beauty of tolerance! How mellifluous are its melodies. How sweet its sounds. Hardly.
Spencer wrote, “These students have been hoodwinked into thinking that ‘Islamophobes,’ rather than jihad terrorists, are killing people around the world.”
Yes, those are the really dangerous enemies, those “Islamophobes,” not those jihadi terrorists. And the enemies are not the Islamists who enforce a death penalty for “apostasy” (meaning, leaving Islam). The enemies are the ones who call this barbary out.
Spencer noted the biting irony of it all: “For example, one man held a sign that read ‘Queers Against Islamophobia.’ The crowd booed lustily when I attempted to read from Islamic authorities about Islam’s death penalty for homosexuality. Even to read from Islamic sources is hate, apparently, at the University at Buffalo — unless, of course, one endorses such penalties rather than oppose them.”
Yes, these days, if you expose something murderous or hateful, you are guilty of a worse sin – the sin of judging. And on campuses these days, there is hardly a worse sin you could commit.
I once spotted a comment responding to a YouTube video posted by a 12-year old boy who opposed same-sex marriage based on the Bible. The comment read: “You, just like everyone who is against gay marriage, is a mentally retarded bigot. No exceptions. Now go to hell.”
This is the voice of tolerance, the same voice that drowned out Spencer in Buffalo. And how interesting that “tolerance” reviles a 12-year-old boy who does not support same-sex “marriage” but then defends Islam that calls for a death-penalty for homosexual practice. How interesting that “tolerance” wants to silence Christians who peacefully oppose homosexual activism as well as silence those who draw attention to Islam’s violent opposition to homosexuality. What a laughable contradiction.
But this is no laughing matter. As Spencer noted, “By shutting down any discussion of the motivating ideology of the jihad threat and consigning it all to the realm of ‘hatred’ and ‘bigotry,’ the student mob at the University of Buffalo enables that threat to grow. One day, the Leftists who screamed, heckled, and booed as I tried to speak may very well experience the consequences of their actions, carried out by those with whom they thought they stood in solidarity.”
Yes, let that mob try pulling off the same stunt in strict Islamic countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan or in places like the Hamas-governed Gaza Strip, and let’s see how far they get. In fact, let’s see how far they get carrying a sign saying, “Queers Against Islamophobia.”
The Left needs to end its naïve love affair with Islam. And may peace-loving Muslims help lead the way in working against radical Islam.
TREASON IN NY?!? Sharia Schools Caught Teaching Kids To Be Suicide Bombers
May 19, 2017
Students across the country are being indoctrinated with Islamic lesson plans as liberals plan for the eventual domination of America at the hands of Islam.
The New York Education Department (NYSED) is scrambling after their pro-suicide bomber lesson plan was revealed by journalists at The Blaze.
The lesson plan, titled “Dying to be a Martyr,” was removed from the Education Department’s website without comment after news of the teaching material starting circulating online.
The material being taught to children was so controversial that NYSED is attempting to remove all traces of the lesson plan from existence. The LAST thing they want is for this flub to reach the public eye — well, too bad. They didn’t count on The Angry Patriot coming along!
The lesson plan was one of many extolling the virtues of Islam to impressionable students funded by taxpayer money through the Public Broadcasting Corporation (PBS). That’s right: We the People funded this atrocity. Sick!
The lesson plan was originally available through the NYSED website in a section titled “Resources for Teachers.” NYSED has removed the material, but it is still available through the New York affiliate of PBS for those teachers determined to destroy our country’s youth.
As we have previously reported, over the last decade PBS has been creating pro-Islamic material for students, including lessons such as “The Five Pillars of Islam” and “Salat: Prayer in Muslim Life.”
However, “Dying to be a Martyr” is the most egregious lesson plan revealed so far, and encourages American students to sympathize with Islamic suicide bombers.
The teacher behind the disgraceful lesson plan is still teaching at Ballston Spa High School in New York. Material from the school website reveals that she teaches World History to students in grades 9 and 10. Her lessons cover the Israel-Palestine conflict extensively, and asks students to understand the motives of Hamas, a designated terror group.
The “Dying to be a Martyr” lesson is one of the largest offered by PBS and contains 40 course materials. In one section teachers are instructed to ask students what Israel has done to deserve the suicidal attacks.
The lesson plan never offers the Israeli perspective, and portrays Hamas terrorists as the victims of Israeli colonialism.
Liberals have become so deranged in their pursuit of political correctness that they are instructing students that suicide bombing is courageous. This is an insult to America and to ACTUALLY courageous people everywhere — like our brave military and law enforcement officers who fight to protect us each and every day. This lesson plan should not be on ANY curriculum, not even in a class on satire.
How can we stop schools from teaching Islam and martyrdom? Please share the story on Facebook and tell us what you think because we want to hear YOUR voice!
WAVE OF ‘MORE DANGEROUS, SKILLED’ ISIS JIHADISTS BOUND TO HIT EUROPE – UN COUNTERTERRORISM CHIEF
UN tells Europeans ‘more terrorism’ is inevitable
May 19, 2017 by RT
Europe will have to come to grips with an exodus of “dangerous and disillusioned” Islamic State jihadists, defeated in Syria and Iraq earlier this year and possibly seeking revenge, the head of the UN Security Council’s counterterrorism agency has warned.
Scores of foreign Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) fighters, determined to come back to Europe, are “more dangerous” than previous waves of returnees, Jean-Paul Laborde told reporters on Thursday. Some may be eager to seek revenge after defeats on the battlefield, including in recent confrontations in Mosul.
The first wave of the returnees was mainly made up of young people who went to Syria and Iraq “for T-shirts and photos,” Laborde said, RTBF reported. They came back “disillusioned and dismayed.” The second wave may contain much more extreme individuals, who had more time to build contacts with criminal organizations that can assist them in committing attacks.
Between 40 to 50 percent of foreign fighters, who left for Syria and Iraq, have already left territories controlled by IS, Laborde added.
“On average, these people are much more committed, more experienced and more skilled,” he told reporters, as cited by Reuters.
“In spite of the travel restrictions … still you will have a number of foreign terrorist fighters which will probably slip through the borders and go back, come back to these countries, especially with smuggling networks,” he added.
Over the last 18 months, the flow of departures of fighters from Europe to Syria or Iraq fell by some 90 percent, the UN official said, calling for international cooperation not only between EU member states, but also between countries involved in armed conflicts and their neighbors.
Some 5,000 EU nationals are currently fighting in Syria among the ranks of IS and other jihadist groups, a senior Syrian official said last month, warning that it’ll be a disaster for European security if these militants are allowed to return.
“We have statistics that about five thousand terrorists fighting in Syria have come from the EU countries,” Syria’s Deputy Minister of Expatriates and Foreign Affairs Ayman Susan told Sputnik in mid-April.
“Imagine that these 5,000 terrorists will return to Europe … they can do it,” the diplomat warned.
IS provides free passage to Europe to refugees willing to join the terrorist group, offering potential recruits up to $1,000 while actively infiltrating migrant communities in countries of destination, a British anti-extremism think tank warned in February.
The report by Quilliam think tank also found that underage asylum seekers are at increasing risk of being radicalized by IS preachers infiltrating refugee camps and local migrant communities.
“Groups such as Islamic State and Boko Haram recruit using financial incentives within refugee camps and work with smugglers and traffickers to facilitate the journey to asylum,” Quilliam said.
According to the think tank, IS is clearly aware of the value of migrant routes in the Eastern Mediterranean as it offers free passage and “a degree of security” to those willing to join IS.
