The Slave Trade Is Alive and Well in Islamic Libya West African Migrants Sold at Open Markets
Where are you, Black Lives Matter? Sharing a “plight” with Palestinians, perhaps?
Black Lives Matter has been busy making pilgrimages to the West Bank and touting the Palestinian “cause” but mum’s the word as African slaves are being traded in public squares throughout Islamic Libya.
International Business Times reports that Libyans have been exploiting newly arrived migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa, hawking them in “public slave markets” to the tune of $200 (£160) and $500 (£400) a piece.
Most of the slaves are reportedly held captive before being sold. IBT reports:
Survivors have told the International Organization for Migration (IOM) how there are slave markets and private prisons all over Libya.
Mohammed Abdiker, IOM’s head of operation and emergencies, said: “The situation is dire. The more IOM engages inside Libya, the more we learn that it is a vale of tears for all too many migrants.”
One survivor from Senegal spoke of how he was brought by smugglers across Niger in a bus to the southern Libyan city of Sabha, where he was due to risk a boat trip to Europe. When the middleman did not get his fee, the survivor was put up for sale along with other passengers.
He was taken to a prison where he worked without pay while the captors demanded 300,000 West African francs (about £380) before selling him on to a larger jail. Livia Manante, an IOM officer based in Niger, said migrants would be brought to a square where they were put up for sale.
Manante said: “IOM Italy has confirmed that this story is similar to many stories reported by migrants and collected at landing points in southern Italy, including the slave market reports.”
Those who did not get their ransom paid were often taken away and killed while others would die of hunger and disease in unsanitary conditions.
IOM has helped repatriate 1,500 people back to West Africa so far this year where it is trying to inform people not to risk the journey to Libya where they face exploitation.
As a departure point for refugees trying to get to Europe, migrants arriving in Libya from sub-Saharan Africa are particularly vulnerable due to a lack of money and little in the way of documentation.
“If the number of migrants goes down, because of death or someone is ransomed, the kidnappers just go to the market and buy one,” Manente said.
Chief IOM spokesman Leonard Doyle called Libya a “torture archipelago” that awaits each West African migrant as he or she crosses the border.
“There they become commodities to be bought, sold and discarded when they have no more value.”
But you know, the real problem is that privileged black actors in the West aren’t landing enough Academy Awards nominations.
The truth is, the black slave trade has long been practiced in the Islamic world, but you’ll never hear the Left complain about it.
Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions explained to host Sean Hannity how border security has changed since President Donald Trump took office nearly three months ago.
Sessions went on to add it was the intention of the Trump administration to send the message the border was not open.
“[C]an you believe that we have had the lowest number of entrances at the border in 17 years? This is the direct result of Donald Trump’s strong, clear leadership. It has an impact. The most important thing for us is to send a message to the world that the border is not open. Please don’t come. You will be apprehended if you do come, and you will be deported promptly. And if you’re a criminal, you’ll be prosecuted. And if you assault our officers, we’re going to come at you with a ton of bricks. This is the kind of message we need to send. It is already being sent. It is having a dramatic effect so far. I knew strong presidential leadership unlike the wishy-washiness we’ve seen in the past would impact the flow, but not as much as we’ve seen already. The numbers are down 70 percent since President Obama left office. It is really a remarkable achievement.”

EU TO DEFIANT NATIONS: ACCEPT MUSLIM MIGRANTS OR ELSE
EU threatens independence of nations
April 12, 2017 by Jamie White
The European Union Commission has threatened to take defiant EU member states like Hungary and Poland to court if they continue to defy their migrant relocation policy.
Hungary and Poland have so far refused to take part in the EU’s scheme to move 160,000 migrants from Italy to Greece – the main entry points – to elsewhere in the EU.
“If member states do not increase their relocations soon, the Commission will not hesitate to make use of its powers for those which have not complied,” stated a Commission spokesman.
Hungary has filed its own lawsuit against the migrant relocation policy and a hearing at the European Court of Justice is due next month.
The Commission’s legal threats apply especially to Hungary due to an emerging bill that could shut down a Budapest university founded by globalist billionaire George Soros as part of a wider crackdown of groups he started in Europe.
“Taken cumulatively, the overall situation in Hungary is cause for concern,” First Vice President Frans Timmermans said at a news conference, adding that the Soros-backed Central European University (CEU) was a “pearl” that must be protected.
The EU has “resolved to use all the instruments at our disposal under the Treaties to uphold the values on which our Union is grounded,” Timmermans said. “The vision of an open society, of a diverse society is under threat.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s pushback against the EU’s dictates has ironically earned him the greeting of “Hello Dictator!” from the unelected EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, reports Reuters.
The EU has threatened member states before, with several policy chiefs saying that the bloc could fine them €250,000 for every migrant they refuse to accept.
The EU’s foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has made it clear that the bloc has no intention of sealing the borders to reduce the overflow of Muslim migrants.
“Let me be totally clear from the very beginning: Europe does not and will not close its doors,” she said.
