Democrats sit on their hands during presidential speech to Congress
Mar 1, 2017
WASHINGTON (AP) — They didn’t heckle. There were no in-your-face pink “pussyhats.” There were just a few no-shows.
At President Donald Trump’s first address to Congress on Tuesday, Democrats stuck with more muted ways of exercising the art of the dis.
They turned their thumbs down. They maintained stone faces. They sat on their hands.
They laughed out loud when Trump declared it was time to “drain the swamp.”
There were audible groans when he announced a new office for victims of crimes committed by immigrants.
As Trump strode down the center aisle of the House chamber to make his big entrance, some drew back to avoid shaking his hand.
There were even a few empty seats on the Democratic side of the aisle.
Rep. Eliot Engel, a New York Democrat who’s hugged the center aisle seat for 29 years of speechmaking by presidents of both parties, took a pass on an aisle seat this year — and made a point of announcing it.
Democratic women from the House sent a sartorial message, but nothing as edgy as the pussyhats that dominated at the Women’s March on Washington on the day after Trump’s inauguration.
Instead, they wore suffragists’ white on Tuesday night to put a spotlight on women’s issues. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi drew the direct contrast to Trump, tweeting that those in white were supporting women’s rights “in spite of a @POTUS who doesn’t!”
A number of Democratic senators and House members made a political statement with the guests they invited to sit in the galleries for the speech, selecting people negatively affected by Trump’s exclusionary immigration policies and who have depended on the health care law he opposes.
Trump, too, was on good behavior for the evening, exercising unusual restraint.
He did get in a subtle dig by pointing in the Democrats’ direction when he declared the “time for trivial fights is behind us.”

Trump Meets With 100+ Black Leaders…But the Media Wanted to Focus on This ‘Scandal’
Mar 2, 2017 by
President Trump met with numerous presidents of historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) at the White House on Monday. Trump signed an executive order that would result in the government issuing more contracts and grants to HBCUs. McClatchy’s article carried the headline: “Donald Trump will try to outdo Obama in backing black colleges.” From McClatchy:
“It would be truly, truly historic,” said Leonard Haynes, a longtime educator who ran the office and is helping to write the executive order. “It’s part of a long time dream…none of (the other presidents) had the courage to do it.”
Though African-Americans overwhelmingly support Democrats at the polls, many education experts credit Republican leaders for helping to improve HBCUs, the common shorthand for historically black schools.
Some black college administrators say they were disappointed in President Barack Obama for not making the schools a priority and, in some cases, harming their financial health and contributing to declining enrollment with the changes he made to loan programs.
The schools receive money from the federal government through grants, contracts, appropriations and student aid. They received $4.7 billion in federal financial assistance in 2013, according to the latest annual report available. The money accounted for 2.8 percent of federal funds awarded to all institutions of higher education.
Obviously, it was a big deal, considering the media narrative that Trump and his administration – particularly Steve Bannon – are a bunch of white supremacist nazis.
So, it’s no surprise that some media networks wanted to focus on a more serious scandal – that of Kellyanne Conway sitting on the couch in the Oval Office…with her shoes on the couch. (gasp!)
Breitbart noted: “Leading the pack was Buzzfeed’s Deputy news director Jon Passantino, who said ‘Conservatives were pissed Obama put his feet on Oval Office desk. Watch their reaction tonight.’”
Trump Met With A Group Of Soldiers, And Gave Them Something They’ll Never Forget!
Mar 1, 2017
President Donald Trump absolutely loves the United States military. From the campaign trail to the Oval Office, Trump has shown America’s fighting men and women a level of respect that hasn’t been seen in eight long years.
From vowing to build up America’s military might to promising to overhaul the broken VA system, Trump has shown a willingness to fight for those willing to lay down their lives to defend this nation’s freedoms.
From Conservative Tribune
A new report has come out showing just how deep Trump’s feeling for the military is: Reportedly, during his third week in office, Trump met with a class of Green Beret candidates and actually took them inside the Oval Office, Breitbart reported.
“Halfway through the discussion, (Trump) said, ‘Hey — we’re not supposed to do this but follow me,’ and he brought them all into the Oval Office, took a group photograph around the Resolute desk, and then — throwing the schedules into a bit of a tizzy, said, ‘OK, that’s not good enough,’” Deputy Assistant to the President Sebastian Gorka explained.
Given all of the photos of Trump meeting with people in the Oval Office that have come out over the past month, this may not seem like a huge deal, but in fact it truly is.
This was the first time in the Green Beret course’s history that candidates were inside the Oval Office. Nothing like this ever came close to happening under President Barack Obama.
“He said, ‘everybody stand in the corner.’ They all stood in the corner, and one-by-one we took photographs they can take home to their family with each future Green Beret next to the president at the Oval Office desk,” Gorka explained.
What makes this story even more amazing was the fact that Trump kept this Feb. 7 meeting private. No photos have been released, and the Trump-hating press pool didn’t report on it, even though it was announced a day before it occurred.
Trump could have used the opportunity has a publicity stunt, but instead he chose to (attempt) to keep it a private affair. That’s one hallmark of a real leader.
With Trump in the White House, America is now a country where pride in our military, and pride in our nation, can finally come first. This isn’t Obama’s America where we were forced to apologize for who we were. This is an America that salutes the troops and prioritizes the needs of its own citizens. This is an America that is on the way to becoming great again.
Chairman of House Intelligence Committee Says There’s ‘No Evidence’ Tying Trump Campaign to Russia
Mar 1, 2017 by
Representative Devin Nunes (R-CA) is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. At a press conference, he reiterated what has been stated many times ever since the media and Trump’s political opponents invented the Russian connection as a way to delegitimize him as President. If Hillary Clinton had won, there would have been no such thing as Russia.
A reporter asked Nunes about General Michael Flynn’s resignation and whether the wiretaps would have picked up other names as well, assuming the media’s narrative is true that the Trump campaign and transition team were in regular contact with Russia.
It’s a good point. If, as the media have been saying for months, Trump and his campaign have been in regular contact with Russia, and Russia is the reason Trump won, why is it that Michael Flynn was the only person whose name has come up during routine wiretaps on foreign calls? You’d think that the wiretaps would have exposed nearly everyone in the Trump campaign and transition team. But so far, only Flynn’s call to Russia was revealed, and he wasn’t even doing anything wrong.
One obvious answer is that there was no ‘regular contact’ between Trump and Russia. That’s how the House Intelligence Committee Chairman answered:
“There is no evidence that I’ve been presented of regular contact with anybody within the Trump campaign. The only one is obvious: General Flynn’s discussions with the Russians, which I would still contend that he was doing what he was supposed to do, which is to prepare the president-elect for office by getting as many leaders in front of him as possible.”
