For nearly two months, images of immigrant children who have crossed the border without a parent, only to wind up in concrete holding cells once in United States, have tugged at heartstrings. Yet most Americans…

For a story about a poll that shows only 13% of Americans want the children in this recent flood of illegals to be allowed to stay in America, The Huffington Post wrote this headline: “Most Americans Believe Migrant Children Should Be Allowed To Remain In U.S., Poll Shows.”

Obviously, HuffPo didn’t like the results of the poll, but rather than simply ignore it, the left-wing outlet chose instead to lie about it: [emphasis added]

The poll, conducted on July 31-Aug. 5, found that 51 percent of Americans believe the unaccompanied children being detained at the U.S.-Mexico border should be allowed to remain in the country for some length of time.

That included 38 percent who thought the unaccompanied youngsters should be sheltered and cared for until it was deemed safe for them to return home. Thirteen percent said the children should be allowed to stay in the United States, while 32 percent said the children should be immediately deported.

The headline is not spin or left-wing opinion or partisanship on the part of the Huffington Post, it is a bald-faced, straight out, indefensible lie.

The left and the media are losing the border debate in the exact same way they lost the most recent gun control debate. The left starts out with a campaign of emotional blackmail, conservative media then rushes in with facts and original reporting; and suddenly the left and the media are sputtering with half-truth and full-blown lies as the tide of public opinion turns against them.

Only 13% of those polled believe these illegal children should be allowed to remain in the US.

Still, a desperately dishonest HuffPo writes, “Most Americans Believe Migrant Children Should Be Allowed To Remain In U.S., Poll Shows.”

Lies don’t get any bigger than that.

Reuters Misleads About Results of Own Border Poll
11 Aug 2014 by John Nolte

Reuters commissioned a border poll and obviously didn’t care for the results. When you are Reuters, though, that’s not a problem. You simply bury the inconvenient numbers under a misleading headline that reads, “Obama vow to speed deportation of children at odds with public opinion” — even though the poll says nothing of the sort.

What the Reuters poll actually says is that only 13% — that’s right, 13% — of those polled said the border children in question “should be allowed to stay in the United States.”

Only 38% believe “the unaccompanied youngsters should be sheltered and cared for until it was deemed safe for them to return home.”

Another 32% “said the children should be immediately deported.” Moreover…

The Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 48 percent of Democrats believe the children should be cared for until it is safe for them to return home, against 30 percent of Republicans and 37 percent of people who identified themselves as independents.

What you have here are only 48% of Democrats on board.

So how does Reuters attempt to justify its misleading headline? With this meaningless factoid:

The poll, conducted on July 31-Aug. 5, found that 51 percent of Americans believe the unaccompanied children being detained at the U.S.-Mexico border should be allowed to remain in the country for some length of time.

First off, considering the question, that number is shockingly low and says nothing about approving or disapproving of a speeded up but legal deportation process. Regardless, Reuters spun it into opposition because it was the only number that could in any way be spun into a pro-amnesty headline

The media wants Obama to legalize millions of Democrats just as badly Obama does. Poll after poll, however, shows that the American people — huge majorities of the American people — disagree.

Rather than report that fact, outlets like Reuters have no choice but to mislead their own readers, and more importantly, DC lawmakers. If the media can build an artificial bubble that says amnesty is popular, that’s the best chance the Left has to intimidate Congress into getting those Democrats legalized.

‘Rape Trees’ Common Along Immigrant Smuggling Route
Trees marking where smugglers raped migrants so common, locals have a name for them
August 11, 2014 by Adan Salazar

In a sleepy, rural South Texas town, seeing trees with female undergarments hanging from them is a common sight. Locals have even invented a term for them: “rape trees.”

Though the town of Falfurrias sits about 80 miles north of the US-Mexico border, residents there come in frequent contact with illegal immigrants attempting to make their way further inside the U.S.

Many of the immigrants, having journeyed through the rough Texas desert terrain, where temperatures easily exceed 100 degrees daily, will often procure human smugglers, or coyotes, to transport them the rest of the way.

Smugglers, however, are a particularly seedy bunch, and will lie, cheat and steal from their clients at a moment’s notice.

“Often,” according to National Geographic, they rape female migrants and hang their underwear from trees:

[Texas rancher Wyatt Hollek] and others around town say migrant girls are raped and killed by their coyotes so often that there’s a term for the trees where the bra-and-underwear ties are hung: rape trees.

The grim phrase illustrates the danger and treachery involved when attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.

As many as three hundred people died between 2011 and 2013 in Brooks Co., for which Falfurrias is the county seat, according to Fox News. Last June, a research team also unearthed mass graves near Falfurrias’ Sacred Heart Burial Park, a testament to the riskiness of defying national immigration laws.

The town’s residents remember better days, when the oil and gas industry provided a wellspring of jobs.

But when energy reserves ran dry, many residents turned to smuggling to make a quick buck. “Now it’s just smuggling and game rooms and none of the young people want to work for a living,” an oil worker told Nat Geo.

“They’ll pull out wads of hundreds of dollars and beg me to drive them to Houston,” the worker said.

Last June, Infowars traveled to Falfurrias where Brooks County Judge Raul M. Ramirez revealed dealing with the immigrant influx was exhausting his county’s already-meager resources.

“It was the loss of oil & gas revenue, compounded with the amount that we spend dealing with autopsies, wear and tear of [county] vehicles, the sheriff’s department, the JPs [Justices of the Peace], the magistrates, death certificates, all the paperwork that’s entailed and getting out to areas that are very, very remote,” he said. “I personally have been taken to pronounce a body [of an illegal immigrant dead] when the sheriff’s officer said ‘oh, there went the transmission’ and we had to call a wrecker to come get us.”

Speaking to local ranchers Michael and Linda Vickers, Infowars also witnessed firsthand the destruction of property smugglers and immigrants leave in their wake, and the grisly results of the non-stop death march running through residents’ ranches.

The Obama administration’s refusal to curtail the immigrant influx has created a new source of income for people willing to get their hands dirty with illegal smuggling activities, but is has also encouraged people to put their lives in the hands of complete strangers, who are driven by profit, not “humanitarianism.”
